We celebrate Louise Redknapp’s 20 major milestones

With a successful music and presenting career, and now a starring role on Strictly Come Dancing, Louise Redknapp is a household name.

Naturally, we couldn’t believe our luck when she agreed to star in our brand new Mecca Bingo ad!

The ad is definitely up there with our major milestones, but what about Louise?

Completely by chance, Louise met Denis during a night out, aged 16.

After their fateful meeting, Louise, Kéllé and producer-extraordinaire, Denis, formed the band Eternal in 1992.

Having a debut single chart at number four

Eternal’s debut single, ‘Stay’, entered the UK charts at an impressive number four! Not only that, but their debut album, ‘Always and Forever’, became the first album by a female group to achieve over one million UK sales.

A solo record deal

Louise signed her solo deal as ‘Louise’ in late 1995, with First Avenue Management and EMI Records.

Releasing her debut solo single

The orchestral ballad, ‘Light of my Life’, reached number eight in the UK charts.

A Platinum debut solo album

Louise’s debut solo album, ‘Naked’, was certified Platinum by the BPI for selling more than 300,000 copies! Not too shabby.

A Multi-Platinum second album!

In 1997, ‘Woman in Me’ hit number five in the UK charts, going on to gain Multi-Platinum status.

Being voted ‘Sexiest Woman in the World’

In 1998, FHM readers voted Louise ‘Sexiest Woman in the World’. Hubba hubba!

In 2001, Louise released ‘Changing Faces – the Best of Louise’, which featured three brand new tracks, before embarking on her second solo tour.

In 2004, Louise gave birth to her first son Charley, who’s named after her late grandfather.

Not only is Louise named ‘Sexiest Woman in the World’, but in 2004, FHM also named her ‘Sexiest Woman of the Decade’!

Becoming the face of Triumph lingerie

Louise became the face of the Triumph lingerie brand during 2007, and went on to represent the company throughout 2008 and 2009.

Beau Henry Redknapp was born in 2008, and was named in tribute to his grandad, football manager Harry Redknapp, who was born in Bow.

In 2011, Louise made her big acting debut in the film ‘Hot Potato’, which also stars the legendary Ray Winstone.

Launching a makeup line

Louise launched her makeup line, Wild about Beauty, in 2012. In collaboration with makeup artist Kim Jacob, no less!

Earlier this year, Louise starred in the third series of the Great Sport Relief Bake Off. She baked up a storm alongside BBC world affairs editor John Simpson, footballer and pundit Jermaine Jenas and fellow songstress Geri Horner (Halliwell).
